Meet Bretta and Discover Why I Started Indiana Pride Weddings
If you’ve landed here because you’re planning a wedding and looking for people who will welcome you, listen to you, and respect your relationship, I’m glad you found us.
I’m Bretta, the owner of Indiana Pride Weddings and Weddings By Bretta. I’m a certified wedding and event planner, a wedding officiant, a wife, a mom, a grandma, and someone who believes that love is love. Always has been. Always will be.
I also believe wedding planning should come with good coffee, honest conversations, and someone who knows how to keep things moving. Preferably before you have seventeen browser tabs open and start questioning why you thought choosing a napkin would be easy.
If that sounds like your kind of person, we’re probably going to get along just fine.
I created Indiana Pride Weddings in 2024 because I wanted LGBTQ+ couples in Indiana to have a clear, welcoming place to begin. A place where you can talk about your wedding without first wondering whether the person across the table respects your marriage.
You deserve to feel seen, heard, valued, and comfortable being yourselves. That’s where we start.
More Than 14 Years in Weddings and Still Loving What I Do
I’ve owned Weddings By Bretta for more than 14 years. During that time, my business has served over 9,000 couples, from simple marriage license signings to elopements, wedding ceremonies, and fully planned celebrations.
That’s a lot of weddings. It’s also a lot of different personalities, family situations, priorities, and opinions about what a wedding should look like.
One thing that experience has made very clear to me is that no two couples need exactly the same thing.
Some want help with every decision. Some have everything selected but need someone to bring it together. Some want a ceremony that makes their guests laugh, while others want something quieter and more personal. Some just want to get married without turning it into a six-month group project.
I enjoy getting to know what matters to each couple and figuring out how we can help. It takes listening, asking the right questions, and knowing when to offer guidance without taking over.
That experience comes with me to Indiana Pride Weddings. You’re meeting someone who understands weddings, cares about the people getting married, and has spent years doing the work.
Why I Started Indiana Pride Weddings
Weddings By Bretta has always welcomed LGBTQ+ couples. That was already part of how we worked and what I believed.
Starting Indiana Pride Weddings gave that welcome a more visible home.
When you search for LGBTQ+ wedding services in Indiana, I want you to find a business where you don’t have to guess whether you’ll be accepted. You should be able to read our website, reach out, and know that your relationship will be treated with respect.
As an LGBTQ+ ally, I know that saying “everyone is welcome” needs to show up in how we actually work. It matters in our conversations, the questions we ask, the ceremony language we use, and the people we recommend.
I wanted a space where couples could say, “Here’s who we are, here’s what we want, and here’s what we need help with,” and get a thoughtful response.
Your wedding deserves professional attention and genuine care. Your names, pronouns, relationship, and choices deserve respect. You shouldn’t have to spend your consultation convincing someone of that.
Indiana Pride Weddings is my way of making that welcome clear from the beginning and carrying it through the planning process.
A Little About the Woman Behind the Business
My full name is Brittania Thompson, but everybody calls me Bretta.
I’m based in Greenwood, Indiana, and serve couples throughout Central Indiana. I’m married, have five adult children and seven grandchildren, and family is a big part of my life.
I love coffee, chocolate, reading, baking, and finding a good resale-store bargain. I also love bowling. My high score is 280, and yes, I’m absolutely going to mention that when the opportunity presents itself.
I’m a list person. A timeline person. A “let’s figure this out before it becomes a problem” person. That comes in handy when you’re managing a wedding and several things need attention at the same time.
But being organized doesn’t mean I expect couples to show up organized. You can come to me with a folder, a spreadsheet, a handful of screenshots, or absolutely no idea where to start.
I’ll meet you there.
You’ll also get honest answers from me. If something needs more time, a different approach, or another conversation, I’ll tell you. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, including the ones you think you should already know the answers to.
You’re getting married. You aren’t required to become a wedding professional first.
I Eloped Too So I Understand Choosing Something Smaller
My husband and I eloped in Negril, Jamaica. So, when a couple tells me they want to keep things small, I understand the appeal personally.
A big wedding can be wonderful. So can a wedding with only the two of you.
You don’t need a packed room, an elaborate reception, or a wedding party to make your choice worth celebrating. If you want a small ceremony and dinner afterward, we can talk about that. If you want your closest people beside you, we can talk about that too.
Sometimes couples feel pressure to plan something larger than they want because they’re worried about disappointing everyone else.
I’ll encourage you to think about what you actually want before you start building the guest list.
Eloping doesn’t mean you care less about getting married. It means you’ve chosen a different way to do it. I know that from my own wedding, and I bring that understanding to the couples we serve.
Whether your plans are simple or elaborate, I want them to feel comfortable for you.
What Feeling Seen and Heard Looks Like Here
A welcoming wedding business should make room for your actual life.
Tell me what you’re excited about. Tell me what you’re worried about. Tell me which traditions you love and which ones make you think, “Absolutely not.”
We’ll talk about the names and pronouns you use, how you want to be introduced, and the language that feels right for your ceremony. We’ll ask rather than assume.
We’ll also talk about who matters to you. That might include parents, children, siblings, friends, or chosen family. You get to decide who has a place in your celebration and what that involvement looks like.
If there are sensitive family circumstances, you can share what you’re comfortable sharing. We can discuss how those circumstances affect your plans without turning your consultation into an interrogation.
I want you to feel safe asking questions and being honest about your priorities. When you tell us something matters, we take it seriously.
Respect shows up in those details. It shows up when someone remembers what you said and uses it to help create the wedding you actually want.
Custom Wedding Officiant Services in Indianapolis and Central Indiana
One of the services we offer is wedding officiating, and I love the opportunity to help couples create a ceremony that sounds like them.
Your ceremony is a big part of your wedding. The words should fit your relationship and the promises you’re choosing to make.
We create custom wedding ceremony scripts with each couple’s preferences in mind. We’ll talk about tone, readings, vows, family involvement, and any traditions or unity elements you’d like to include.
You might want a ceremony with humor. You might want religious or spiritual elements. You might want a nonreligious ceremony that focuses on your relationship. You might want a mix that takes a little thought to get right.
That’s why we have the conversation.
We can also help with vows, whether you want to write your own, repeat after your officiant, or answer “I do” to promises created for you.
For couples searching for an LGBTQ+ friendly wedding officiant in Indianapolis, Greenwood, or elsewhere in Central Indiana, our goal is straightforward: help you feel comfortable with your officiant and confident in your ceremony.
And yes, we’ll discuss the pronouncement. You should like the words used to introduce you as a married couple.
Indiana Elopements for Couples Who Want to Keep It Simple
We offer elopement services for couples who want a smaller wedding with fewer moving parts.
An elopement might be just the two of you or include a small number of guests, depending on the location and service you choose.
We work with couples considering Greenwood elopements, Brown County elopements, Indiana Statehouse ceremonies, and small weddings at venues such as Bay Horse Inn. Availability, guest limits, and arrangements vary, so we’ll help you understand what fits your plans.
Some couples know exactly where they want to get married. Others know they want something small but need guidance on the next steps.
Either is fine.
We can talk through your ceremony, your setting, and whether you’d like photography included through one of our elopement options.
I want couples looking for LGBTQ+ elopements in Indiana to know that a smaller wedding can still have the attention and personal touches they want.
You can dress up, exchange personal vows, bring your favorite people, or keep it very simple. Small leaves plenty of room for personality.
Civil Ceremonies and Marriage License Signing Services
We also offer civil ceremonies and a No Ceremony marriage license signing service at our Greenwood office.
A civil ceremony can be a good fit if you want a brief, straightforward ceremony. Our No Ceremony service is for couples who want the marriage license signing without a ceremony.
Some couples plan a larger celebration later. Others prefer to keep the process simple from the start. You don’t owe anyone a long explanation for choosing the option that works for you.
We’ll explain what your appointment includes and provide guidance about the marriage license steps you need to complete beforehand.
If you’re looking for a simple way to get married in Greenwood, Indiana, tell us what you have in mind. We’ll help you understand the available options and what you need to bring.
And if your question is, “Can we just get married without all the extra stuff?” you’re welcome to ask exactly that.
We appreciate direct questions around here.
Micro Weddings with Your Favorite People
A micro wedding can be a great fit when you want a guest list that stays small while still having a ceremony and celebration with the people closest to you.
You might want a lovely venue, a photographer, dinner, cake, and time to enjoy everyone. You just don’t want to invite every person you’ve ever met.
Fair enough.
We offer micro wedding coordination to help couples manage the details of a smaller celebration. Depending on your plans, that can involve the timeline, vendor communication, setup arrangements, and keeping the day moving.
A smaller guest list doesn’t automatically mean there’s nothing to coordinate. Vendors still need information, guests still need direction, and the ceremony still needs to begin.
We’ll talk about the size and structure of your wedding so we can recommend the right level of support.
For LGBTQ+ couples planning a micro wedding in Central Indiana, we want the process to feel approachable. You can create a celebration that suits your relationship, your budget, and the people you want beside you.
Full Wedding Planning for Couples Who Want Help from the Beginning
If you’re newly engaged and thinking, “Okay, now what?” full wedding planning may be the right place to start.
We help couples work through the decisions that shape their wedding, including priorities, budget conversations, venue considerations, vendor selection, logistics, and the schedule.
Having someone who understands how the pieces connect can make those decisions easier to approach.
You still get a voice. A very important one. It’s your wedding.
My role is to help you understand your options, think through the practical details, and move forward with a plan. I can help you spot questions you might not know to ask yet and keep track of what needs attention.
If you’re looking for an LGBTQ+ friendly wedding planner in Indianapolis or Central Indiana, I want you to feel comfortable sharing your ideas with us, even when they’re still taking shape.
You don’t have to arrive with a finished vision. Sometimes the first useful decision is simply figuring out what you don’t want.
We can work with that.
Partial Planning and Wedding Day Management
Maybe you’ve already booked your venue and several vendors, but the remaining details are starting to pile up. Partial planning gives us a chance to discuss where you need help and build support around that.
Or maybe you enjoy planning and want to make the decisions yourselves, but you want someone experienced managing the wedding day.
That’s where wedding coordination, or wedding day management, comes in.
We work through the timeline, communicate with vendors, review logistics, and help manage the day so you can participate in your own wedding.
Because when you’re dressed and ready to get married, answering setup questions probably isn’t how you want to spend the afternoon.
Your loved ones deserve to enjoy it too. Asking a parent or friend to manage everything can leave them working through parts of the celebration they hoped to share with you.
We’ll discuss your plans and explain how our coordination services fit. Different weddings need different levels of involvement, and I’d rather understand your day before recommending a package.
A Team That Takes Your Wedding Seriously
Indiana Pride Weddings is backed by the experience I’ve built through Weddings By Bretta and the people who help me serve our couples.
We have wedding officiants and certified wedding planning professionals who understand that showing up prepared matters. We’re also a licensed and insured business.
Emily Casilli is part of that team. She’s a certified wedding and event planner who has worked alongside me for years and brings experience in officiating, planning, and coordination.
The important thing is finding the right support for your plans.
I care about professionalism because couples are trusting us with something personal. That trust deserves clear communication, preparation, and respect.
I also care about personality. You should feel comfortable with the people helping you get married. A consultation gives us a chance to connect, ask questions, and see how we can work together.
Vendor Recommendations and Choosing People Who Respect You
Choosing wedding vendors involves more than liking their photos or finding an available date.
You’re choosing people you’ll communicate with, make decisions with, and trust to do their part. For LGBTQ+ couples, feeling respected in those interactions matters.
Through our planning services, we can help with vendor recommendations and conversations about what you need from your wedding team.
We’ll consider your priorities, style, budget, and the experience you want. We’ll also encourage you to ask clear questions rather than feeling pressured to book someone because everyone else seems to love them.
A beautiful portfolio matters. So does how a vendor responds when you explain your plans.
I want you to feel comfortable saying, “This is important to us.” That might involve inclusive language, accessibility needs, family circumstances, or how you want your relationship represented.
The people involved in your wedding should understand their responsibilities and treat you professionally.
When you’re weighing options, having someone to talk them through with can help you make decisions with more confidence.
Your Wedding Does Not Need to Follow Someone Else’s Rules
There are plenty of wedding opinions out there. Spend five minutes online and you’ll find someone telling you what you absolutely must do.
Then someone else will tell you the exact opposite.
Here’s where I stand: we’ll think through what works for you and handle the practical details that make it possible.
You can get ready together. You can walk into the ceremony together. You can have a mixed wedding party, a small wedding party, or no wedding party. You can include traditions you love and leave out the ones that don’t fit.
We’ll talk about how those choices affect the flow of the day so everyone involved knows what to do.
You don’t need to force your relationship into a standard wedding template. You also don’t need to make every decision unusual just because you’re an LGBTQ+ couple.
Choose what feels comfortable. Choose what you like.
I’ll help you make a plan around it, and I’ll tell you if something needs a little adjusting to work smoothly.
Let’s Meet Over Coffee and Talk About Your Wedding
If you’ve made it this far, you’ve probably figured out that I care about people, I like a plan, and coffee is frequently involved.
I started Indiana Pride Weddings because I wanted LGBTQ+ couples to have a visible welcome and experienced support here in Indiana. I bring more than 14 years as the owner of Weddings by Bretta, along with my own personality, my team, and a strong belief that couples deserve respect.
Whether you need an Indianapolis wedding officiant, a Greenwood marriage license signing, a Brown County elopement, micro wedding coordination, or help planning a larger celebration, let’s start with a conversation.
Tell me about the two of you. Tell me what you’re imagining and where you need help. We’ll talk about the options and the next steps.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you contact us. You just need a starting point.
I’m Bretta, and I’m so glad you’re here.
Welcome to Indiana Pride Weddings. Let’s talk about your day, your way, in every way.
Let’s meet over coffee. Call or text (317) 416-7777, or send us a message.
